Goal:

Use the cards from your starting deck and booster packs to gain enough Victory Points to win! Beware of the Natural Disasters that spring up from the Disaster Deck, and don’t let your peoples’ happiness get too low or you’ll lose!

Taking a Turn:

  • At the start of your turn, the Disaster Deck will reveal one of 3 random disaster cards. Once 3 of a disaster have been revealed, they will wreak havoc on your board!
  • After the Disaster Deck has revealed its card, you draw a card.
  • During your turn, you may play as many cards as you’d like from your hand. Some you may want to play immediately, while others you may wish to hold onto.
  • During your turn, you may also purchase Booster Packs using gold that contain various cards that can be added to your deck.
  • Whenever you’re ready, click the End Turn button to end your turn.

Booster Packs:

Booster Packs come in 3 varieties: Advancement, Preparation, and Recovery.

  • Advancement cards provide benefits that serve the player without reacting to natural disasters. These can provide smaller benefits that are always helpful to the player
  • Preparation cards serve as a way to prepare for and mitigate the effects of natural disasters when they happen.
  • Recovery cards help you recover from natural disasters after they happen.

Other:

  • You can remove cards on the board at any time for 3 gold by clicking on them and clicking remove.
  • When a card is destroyed from the board or discarded from your hand, they enter the Discard Pile. When you run out of cards to draw, your Discard Pile will be shuffled into your Draw Pile.

I like the strategy in how you need to plan ahead for incoming disasters. I did find the advancement pretty tricky, but it was fun. I did however find that you need to click on the cards presented when buying the booster packs when purchasing, otherwise they don't get added to your hand. Overall, the game was fun and interesting

I really liked the simplicity of the game. There were a couple things that were unclear to me from a UI pov but I started to get the hang of it and enjoyed the challenge.

Fun time! I could tell that the gameplay had been playtested well. The game was quite challenging, which I appreciated! I did come away with a feeling of the tradeoffs one has to make, which worked well for me. I would have loved a bit more polish overall- some parts of the game weren't super well explained, and much of the UI was a bit hard to use, but I'm very impressed with the work that's been done! I think creating deep gameplay is tough to do in this timeline so hats off for making a genuinely engaging gameplay loop.
